This exhibition challenges photographers to compose within the confines of the perfect square. From analog Hasselblads to digital Instagram feeds, the square remains one of the most iconic and enduring formats in photography—where symmetry, balance, focus, and narrative are transformed within its equal-sided boundaries.

We welcome submissions from all photographic genres—including portraiture, landscape, documentary, architecture, and conceptual work. Show us how you use the unique creative constraints of the square frame to tell a story or present a vision.

Selected artists will be featured in an extended three-month exhibition at our gallery, offering meaningful exposure. For full submission guidelines and details, please see below.

Twelve images will be selected by the juror for exhibition at Decode Gallery. The gallery handles all printing for accepted photographers free of charge, with professional printing on an Epson printer using Ilford Pearl paper. Only one exhibition print per image file will be produced; after the exhibition, prints will be archived in a flat file for six months. The gallery features museum-quality 14” x 14” frames, with mats cut to 7” x 7”.

If the photographer chooses to list the exhibition print for sale and a collector expresses interest, the photographer will be notified immediately. All rights to the image file and print remain with the photographer. Decode Gallery takes a 50% commission on all sales, with the remaining 50% going to the photographer.

Photographers will be notified by email of acceptance within two weeks after the submission deadline. The gallery opening will take place on April 4th.
